Mr. Jimmy G. Godby is the President of Telecom Power Consultants. He has over 39 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He was a technician on the first metro TSPS switch in the United States in 1969 and worked on various switching, transport, and power systems. During this time, Jim maintained end cell DC power plants and diesel and gas turbine AC generators.

Upon graduation from Texas Technological University with an engineering degree, he was promoted and transferred to New Mexico as a power equipment engineer. His next step was as a DMS, 1A, 2B and 5E maintenance engineer.

Jim was recruited in 1984 by Bell Communications Research as a technical support SME for switching, power, and job function automation.

Returning to U S WEST in 1986, Jim became the staff SME for AC and DC power systems where he participated in T1E1 and IEEE standards organizations and developed methods and procedures for
U S WEST. Upon his retirement in 2003, he founded Telecom Power Consultants to provide power support services to independent telephone and data carriers.
